The Penn Wells Lodge -- 4 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901
Located on Main Street in downtown Wellsboro, our Lodge provides more modern amenities than the historic Penn Wells Hotel. The Lodge is currently undergoing a major renovation (see construction updates below), taking the property from 55 rooms to 89 rooms, and adding a new lobby, business center, guest laundry, fitness center, fireplace and complimentary breakfast service. Coming in Summer 2012
We’re pleased to announce that the Penn Wells Lodge is improving and expanding with 40 new rooms, a new lobby with a complimentary breakfast service, and an updated fitness center, which will open in the Summer of 2012. Unfortunately, we will be under construction for the next several months while these improvements are made. Our staff is working hard to make sure that the impact of construction on our guests is minimal. Although there may be temporary parking and walkways, actual construction is only taking place Monday-Friday from 8:00 am until late afternoon. We have requested that the construction crews limit loud projects until later in the morning.
If you have concerns regarding construction, you may wish to make your reservation at the Penn Wells Hotel, our historic hotel property one block away from the Lodge.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
November 18, 2011: The renovation is moving forward quickly now. The first floor walls are being set on the new tower. The old lobby is no more and two old guest rooms have been completely removed. For current guests, check-in at our temporary location in “Room 4” continues. Our pool and fitness center remain open. However, the next month or two will be the period of greatest disruption for fitness center use. Lodge guests will need to access the pool by going around the parking lot to enter the pool directly from the front, rather than through the guest hallways as usual.
September 23, 2011: Recent rainstorms and flooding in the area have caused some delay on the Lodge expansion project, but our crews continue to push forward towards our goal of opening in Summer 2012. Our new parking lot and storm water retention system are in place and guests may now park on the new lot. Landscaping should be completed over the next few weeks. We’re excited that crews are beginning to work on the new section of the building. Guests checking in should note the location of our temporary lobby area—it is a former guest room on the first floor, with direct access to the parking lot and interior hallway. It makes for tight quarters, but our friendly and helpful Lodge staff is there to help you. The pool, fitness center and locker rooms are still open and operating.
August 11, 2011: Right now the construction crew is working on the new parking lot. Signage directs guests to temporary guest parking. All rooms, lobby area, pool, locker rooms and fitness center are open.
The Lodge's fitness center is highly popular with our guests. It features a large indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, locker rooms with saunas, free weights, workout machines, and treadmills. The Lodge is also within walking distance of the town tennis courts, basketball courts and outdoor swimming pool.
