COVID-19 Update

The Hotel & Lodge are both open for lodging and are following the American Hotel and Lodging Association “Safe Stay” guildines. Thank you for continuing to mask and social distance in the common areas for the safety of all guests and staff members. Many guest rooms at the Lodge have private entrances and allow you to stay with limited need to enter common areas or have contact with staff members or other guests not in your traveling party.

Our housekeeping staff sanitize guests rooms with extra measures in advance of your entry in the room. Housekeepers will not enter your room during your stay for service unless specifically requested or agreed to. Naturally, we will accommodate any requests for additional towels or room cleaning. Our housekeeping staff will sanitize guest touch points in common areas, such as the elevator, check-in area, and vending areas to an even greater degree than in the past.

Our staff continues to wear masks, are doing health self checks prior to reporting to work, and are following a heightened cleaning protocol. We ask that our guests and customers also stay home if they are not well and wear masks in our public common spaces as a courtesy to our staff, their families, and other patrons.

Dining: The Hotel Dining Room is open from 5-8 Wednesday through Saturday, and our new outdoor Courtyard is open 4-9 Wednesday and Thursday, and 4-10 Friday and Saturday. Both areas are open 4-8 p.m. on Sundays. The Dining Room is limited to 25% occupancy, which is roughly 50 diners depending on the number of staff, and a 6 foot distance is maintained between tables. Our outdoor seating likewise maintains a 6 foot distance between tables. Take out is always available during operating hours by calling 570-724-2111 or ordering online at www.pennwells.com under the dining tab.  Reservations for the dining room are highly encouraged. Courtyard seating is available on a first come, first served basis. In the event there is a waitlist, we can take your name and phone number and call you when a table is ready so you are free to walk around town or stay in other outdoor locations while waiting for your table. Please wear a mask until seated at your table whether inside or outside and anytime you leave your seat. Sunday Brunch service and our Lounge continue to be indefinitely suspended in light of social distancing protocols. We greatly appreciate our guests following Covid-19 prevention recommendations and helping to keep us open and able to serve.

Guest Breakfast: We are offering grab and go breakfast for guest convenince which includes coffee, tea, juice, cold cereal, milk, home made muffins, pastries, and fresh fruit. All items are individually wrapped and packaged to eliminate the use of shared serving displays and untensils. Guests may enjoy breakfast in the designated breakfast areas or at the outdoor Courtyard at the Hotel. Trays are also provided for guests to take breakfast items to guest rooms if preferred. Our full hot breakfast and Sunday brunch service are indefinately suspended in light of Covid-19 prevention guidelines.

Pool and Fitness: The Pool and Fitness Center are open from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day. Occupancy limits remain in effect, so please contact the front desk prior to using these facilities. Guests are encouraged to wear maks while in the pool room and on the pool deck, but are not required to wear masks in the pool or while exercising.

We want to state that we understand the coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on all of you as well. In Wellsboro, Covid-19 has upended normal life, but we are fortunate that the quantity of our positive cases has been low relative to the experience in other communities and we have enjoyed convenient access to our beautiful outdoors as the unusual weather has permitted. We understand that a segment of our customers prefer that our business not be open at all at this time. We share your legitimate concern in wishing to avoid contact with the virus, and we willingly will wait for you to return when you are comfortable in doing so. We also understand that a segment of our customers, eager to get back out or travel, don’t want to hear about any restrictions, masks, or social distancing measures. We share your frustration with the impact of the virus, and respectfully ask that you not take those frustrations out on our staff, who are doing their best to protect their own health and that of our other guests by following the new safety precautions that allow us to stay open and serve the public.

Café 1905: Café 1905, our coffee shop serving Starbucks drinks in Dunham’s Department Store, is open for breakfast, lunch, and drinks for take out or eat-in, with outdoor tables available. Hours are Monday – Thursday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Social distancing steps are in place inside the café with masks required, limitations on the number of customers in the store at one time, and contactless pick-up of drinks upon request. Arcadia Theatre:

The Arcadia Theatre is closed, with no established date for opening.

Dunham’s:

Dunham’s Hardware, Furniture, and Department stores are open with some reduction in hours and staffing of certain departments. Masks are required in all departments and current shopping hours can be confirmed by calling 570-724-1905.
